Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 March 2026

Your trust is sacred to us. We collect only what is necessary, protect it carefully, and never sell it. This policy is written to be read — not buried in legalese.

1. Overview

101Connect ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use the 101Connect platform ("Platform"). By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Name, email address, phone number, profile photo, location (city/state), church affiliation, business details, service descriptions, portfolio items, transaction details, and any messages you send through the Platform.

Information collected automatically

Device and browser type, IP address, pages visited, session duration, and actions taken within the Platform (collected via server logs and analytics tools).

Information from third parties

If you connect a social account (e.g., Google OAuth), we receive basic profile data from that provider. Church membership status may be verified via NLWC administrative records.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account
  • To display your business profile and services to other users
  • To process escrow transactions and facilitate payments
  • To send transactional emails (e.g., verification, receipts, dispute notices)
  • To calculate and display ranking scores based on community activity
  • To moderate content and enforce our Terms of Service
  • To send platform announcements and community updates (you may opt out of marketing emails)
  • To improve the Platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics

4. Church Affiliation Data

Church affiliation is collected to support the Platform's faith-based community ranking system. This data is visible to other logged-in users as part of your profile. It is used to compute a priority tier score that affects search ranking. We do not share this data with third parties outside the platform. You may update or remove your church affiliation at any time from your profile settings.

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Other users — your public profile, business listings, and reviews are visible to registered members. Your contact details are only shared with counterparties in an active transaction.
  • Service providers — payment processors (Flutterwave), email delivery (SendGrid), cloud storage, and analytics tools, under contractual data protection obligations.
  • Administrators — 101Connect staff may access your data to resolve disputes, investigate abuse, or respond to support requests.
  • Legal authorities — if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your public profile is soft-deleted (hidden from public view) but retained for 24 months to support dispute resolution and comply with financial regulations. Transaction records are retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance. You may request deletion of your personal data by contacting privacy@101connect.ng; some data may be retained where legally required.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage of passwords (bcrypt), RS256 JWT tokens for authentication, and role-based access controls. Media files are stored in isolated object storage. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and enable MFA.

8. Cookies & Tokens

We use an HttpOnly refresh token cookie for session management — it cannot be accessed by JavaScript and is scoped to our domain. We may use analytics cookies to understand Platform usage. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect Platform functionality.

9. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to retention obligations)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@101connect.ng. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will promptly close the account and delete the associated data.

11. International Data Transfers

101Connect is operated from Nigeria. If you access the Platform from outside Nigeria, your data may be transferred to and processed in Nigeria or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure such transfers comply with applicable data protection law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-platform notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

13. Contact Us

For privacy-related questions or requests, please email privacy@101connect.ng or write to: 101Connect Data Privacy, c/o New and Living Way Church, Lagos, Nigeria.
